Attorney & Mediator Sarah E. Scoggin
Sarah Scoggin was born and raised in Buchanan, MI.  In 2002, she graduated from Buchanan High School, where she was active in both athletic and academic extracurricular activities.  Sarah pursued her bachelor's degree at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, graduating magna cum laude after spending three years in undergraduate school.  She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from WMU in 2005, majoring in Political Science – Public Law and minoring in Criminal Justice.

In August 2005, Sarah began law school at Michigan State University College of Law in East Lansing.   While attending law school, she completed an externship at Legal Aid of Western Michigan in St. Joseph, concentrating on cases involving divorce, custody, child protection, and landlord/tenant issues.  During law school she was a member of the Family Law Society and the Spartan Law Students Society.  Sarah earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from MSU Law in 2008 and was admitted as a member of the State Bar of Michigan the same year.

Sarah joined the Law Office of Carol Montavon Bealor in 2009, focusing her practice in the areas of family law, estate planning, and landlord/tenant matters, among others.  In 2013, Scoggin & Duncan, PLLC commenced operations as the successor to the Law Office of Carol Montavon Bealor.  Here, Sarah remained committed to providing her clients with the same compassionate and trustworthy legal services that she acquired during her years as Attorney Bealor's associate.

In May 2015, Sarah was happy to be joined in practice by Attorney Heidi A. Duncan.  Soon thereafter, in June 2015, both Sarah and Heidi completed the necessary classwork and hands-on training to become certified domestic relations mediators.  They have both enjoyed the opportunity to diversify their practice with the less antagonistic and more cooperative approach offered by mediation.

Recently, in February 2017, Sarah proudly created a professional limited liability corporation with her new business partner, Heidi, and Scoggin Law Office became Scoggin & Duncan, PLLC.  Sarah is hopeful that the transition to the new entity will be as seamless as possible, especially for clients and their loved ones.

Sarah continues to reside in the Niles/Buchanan area with her family.  Outside of practicing law, Sarah volunteers with various community organizations such as the Cass County Youth Council.  In her free time, she enjoys watching sports (Go Cubs Go!) and spending time with her family and friends, including her two mischievous bird dogs: Cooper and Parker.
